On Thursday, December 7th, SFMTA’s Kathleen Phu and Ronnique Bishop presented to Natalie Gubb Commons residents the reintroduction of the 12-bus line connecting Mission, South of Market, Chinatown, and East Cut neighborhoods. The bus line will continue to serve the same areas it did before its closure in 2009. This reintroduction is motivated by the data analysis of growth and travel patterns in the 2015 Rincon Hill Community Transit Plan and by the important feedback the community has given. With an estimated 17,000 residents in the new future, including seniors and low income families, The East Cut District is looking forward to welcoming back the 12 Folsom/Pacific bus service.
To better suit transit needs, SFMTA is currently seeking public input to determine which route is the most sought after by commuters. There are two options being considered with either involves bus travel on Market street, or on Sacramento and Clay streets. SFTMA Board will review the customer outreach in early 2019 and the new route should be implemented next summer.
