#PEOPLEOFTHEEASTCUT – Meet the San Francisco Rock Project

In this week’s installment of #peopleoftheeastcut, meet the San Francisco Rock Project, a music performance school on a mission to mentor youth toward achieving creative confidence and success in performing live music. The SF Rock Project teaches youth ages 7 to 18 to perform music in a group setting as well as in 1-on-1 lessons. The students perform cover material consisting of classic rock, punk, metal, pop, indie, R&B, blues and jazz– and everything in-between, as well as write their own songs once the students are ready. At the end of each session, there is a performance at a local SF rock venues like @theeparkside, @hotelutah, @bottomofthehillsf and Brick & Mortar. The SF Rock Project is a nonprofit corporation, with all proceeds being returned to the program — in the form of scholarships and tuition assistance, equipment and facilities maintenance, and staff compensation. The East Cut is proud to be home to such an integral arts-focused organization!

Make sure to check out their next show “Wilco + Friends” at @theeparkside on August 20th. Learn more by visiting http://www.rockprojectsf.org/calendar/.
